THEORY TEST.
Before you can take your Practical Driving Test you must first pass your Theory Test. All the information you require can be found on this page. To assist you with this part of your driving test our driving school will provide you with the necessary CD Roms free of charge.
The Theory Test is a two part assessment of your driving knowledge and is taken on a computer. For any of our pupils who do not have access to a computer, we will provide any Theory Test training that may be required by means of our in car computer which is a special bonus in preparation for the test.
A selection of learning aids are available to help you pass your Theory Test. Click on one of the images above if you require further information.
The Theory section will test your driving knowledge using a multiple choice system on a computer. You will be asked 50 questions (5 of which will be related to a case study) covering a wide range of driving topics. You select your answers using the touch screen facility which makes it easy for you to use. You are required to achieve a score of 43 or more to pass this section. You have plenty of time to complete this section so do not rush. Your Driving Instructor will advise you on the various books and CD Roms required to prepare yourself for the test.
The Hazard Perception Test follows the Theory Test. This test is designed to assess your skills in recognising 'developing hazards' by showing a series of 14 video clips. Each clip contains one or more developing hazards which upon spotting you click on your mouse button to record your response. The earlier you click, the more points you score. A maximum of 75 points is available, the pass mark being 44. You have 20 minutes allocated to sit this test. Your Instructor will advise you on CD Roms which are available to prepare you for your test. Remember, practice makes perfect.
